Had yet another great 2 weeks in Puerto Rico thanks to Michelle who went out of her way to get us the best fishing trips on the Felusi and also an excellent day out on the Supercat which was very relaxing.
I must say the Felusi is by far the best fishing trip you will get down at Puerto Rico harbour, it is very clean, food is good and the company is great especially the Captain Enrico who is so passionate about everyone catching fish he really picks the best spots. While we were there in September someone chartered the boat for a birthday and they caught a really big Blue Marlin, unfortunately we were not on that trip but we went down to see it being brought ashore which was great to see, the person who's birthday it was had the biggest grin ever on his face. What a birthday present!!
Well as I say if you want the best service and help go and see Michelle, she's the best, thanks for making our holiday so enjoyable. See you next year.

Well what can I say, it was our 1st time over in gran canaria, well at least for me peter and Julie, Freda (mum) donna and tom had been over there quite a few times before, mum donna and tom used to always go over with dad (Mick) snr, he passed away in December of 2008 and his wishes was we scattered his ashes at sea at gran canaria as he loved it there so much and made allot of friends including Michelle.
So we all booked the holiday and flew other there in April this year, were we met up with Michelle to arrange to go out on her boat to scatter dad's ashes, Michelle took it all in her stride and arranged everything for us, I must say it was a very memorable and very touching afternoon all thanks to Michelle, while out at sea we had drinks music all provided by Michelle. As dad was a very keen fisherman we all decided to book a trip out on the boat in memory of my dad Freda’s husband, everyone was joking about saying well I’m going to catch the biggest fish of the day and it's all going to be the doing of your dad "he's going to put it on for you". well the morning came I was excited as I love fishing just as much as my dad did, what a day mum and Julie sun bathed me and peter fished, we were sat around looking at the views then my reel shot into action with a huge screech of the clutch 15 minutes later I landed a tuna everyone was over the moon especially me, with an hour to go my bottom fishing rod was also became active I struck into it hmmm I thought as the rod bent over almost pulling me in :-) the skipper came quickly with the butt harness a good fight and 15 minutes later I landed a sting ray wow I thought cheers dad only me who as caught once all photo's was taken we released the ray and the trip was almost over so we headed back to shore were we met Michelle and we explained it was only me who'd caught see she said it’s your dad done that for you ;-) well what can I say "THANK YOU DAD" also thank you Michelle for arranging the two trips for us, and I’ll be seeing you very soon in fact the 2nd of September

We were a group of 6 Norwegians having a nice trip out from Puerto Rico in the middle of march (can't exactly remember the date), we had a sunny day with lots of waves but the bite was good. We got a shark, two sting rays and one octopus. Too bad it was too early in the season for Marlin, but I wont complain as we did get nice catch. Big thanks to Michelle for arranging the excursion for us. Hope to see you again. :)

Hi Michelle,Alberto and Pepe!
Had a great time on your boat on Friday 23rd of February, didn't catch anything personally but met some interesting guys from Finland and a nice couple from Hungary. We all managed to get by using a mix of all our languages and some Spanish (from Alberto!)
I must confess we had a few beers before boarding and a few during the trip which all added to the camerarderie!
The Hungarian girl caught the biggest fish, a nice dogfish although she didn't have a drink,I must say!!
WE exchanged E-mail addresses after we got back to shore but I'm sure they may have got a bit lost in translation, so if your looking in here's mine again!
Thanks again for a great day!

Continued from below.
The highlight of our 7 days onboard the Sailfish came on day seven. On September 4th at 11:30am I entered into the fight of a lifetime with a Blue Marlin, the fight lasted 1hour and 50 minutes. 1hour and 50 minutes that will be etched in my memory for ever. At 1:20pm with a lot of help from my amigo Pepe we tag & released an approximately 384kg to 400kg, 844lbs to 880lbs Blue Marling. The experience was almost spiritual to land such a powerful beautiful creature as the Blue Marlin took every once of strength and energy I could find. Without my good friend Pepe there beside I would have not been able to win this fight. Pepe, we shared a experience that not many people get to share. THANK YOU MY FRIEND.
Michelle, Pepe and Eduardo thank you for the experience of a lifetime.

I would like this opportunity to thank our new friends, Michelle, Pepe and Eduardo for a wonderful weeks fishing and to let those of you who have not been on the Sailfish of the wonderful experience waiting you. (It's not all about catching fish) but trust me you do catch fish!
Teresa and I myself spent 7 beautiful days on board the Sailfish. What really makes this amazing is, Teresa had never been fishing or on a boat before. I had only hoped at best to get one days fishing during our holiday .It was Teresa herself who suggested at the end of the first day lets do this again tomorrow!
On our first day aboard the Sailfish, Teresa had said she did not want to fish but wouldn't mind going to watch, (there was plenty for her to see) hundreds of dolphins and four whales. Being a typical man I paid the full fare for Teresa thus giving me two rods one for tuna and the other for marlin. It was long after setting sail that I caught 17 kg bonito. Later in the day the tuna rod went again, with encouragement from Michelle, Pepe and I, Teresa decided to have a go at fishing. Her first fish ever and it was a whopping 19kg Bonito, needless to say she was hooked!
I am not going to lie to you there could be days when you do not catch fish, those of who you who fish know this (but that's fishing). What I will tell you is there are some very big fish of Puerto Rico and the Sailfish knows how to find them!
On our fourth day aboard the Sailfish everyone on board had a very unique experience in seeing a Blue Marlin chase and take a lure and I was the lucky man whose rod it was on, the fight was short lived lasting only five minutes but it will be five minutes that everyone onboard will never forget. Hearing the reel squeal as the marlin ran taking almost every foot of line on the reel with it, jumping majestically 6 or 7 times out of the water before snapping the line. It was a very very big Blue Marlin we estimated to be in the region 450kg to 500kg.
The highlight of our 7 day...

Congratulations to Hafid and Abraham of Cavalier for winning the Puerto Rico fishing competition this year. Well done, you definitely deserve it. They won with a blue marlin and a big eye tuna.

June 29, 2016
Four blue marlins caught and released by Cavalier during a 6 hour fishing trip yesterday. Plenty of blue marlins and big tunas here at the moment.

June 15, 2016
Today was the day that my friend Stig-Arne Svensson from Sweden achieved his dream and caught his first blue marlin. He started fishing with me on the Sailfish 10 years ago and has been trying ever since but without luck. Today, thanks to Hafid and Abraham on Cavalier he did it. Yeah, I am so happy for him.

May 20, 2016
Cavalier caught their first blue marlin for 2016 yesterday, estimated at 250kg, safely released and was also the first blue marlin to be caught in Gran Canaria. Congratulations Hafid and Abraham.

March 27, 2016
February and March saw many many tuna - big eye, albacor and blue fin

May 18, 2015
Big tuna, Blue marlin, White marlin and Spearfish - yes the season has started.

April 23, 2015
Nigel Turner and his boys Dylan and Harvey enjoyed 3 days fishing with Cavalier, one day trolling and 2 days bottom fishing. Thank you and see you again in August.

April 13, 2015
My good friend Jason Green, on holiday with his lovely girlfriend Julia, spent a lovely day on Reel Time yesterday and had an amazing fight with a blue fin tune. Unfortunately, they lost it, but that's fishing !!

March 8, 2015
The tuna have finally arrived here in Gran Canaria, later than normal, but here thats the main thing. Catching big eye and albacor for the moment, waiting for the big boys.

October 7, 2014
It is October and we still have blue marlin here as proved by Reel Time who caught and released 2 today. Congratulations Roger and David. Have had my friend Jason Green here and he has fished 3 days with Reel Time and once with Cavalier. I told him he had come a week too late for his holidays and then the day after he goes home this happens - THAT`S FISHING !!

September 11, 2014
The marlin were late coming to Gran Canaria this year, but now it is well worth the wait. September is fantastic, there are so many marlin here in our Atlantic Ocean.

August 18, 2014
Most boats coming in with something these days lots of white marlin being released, the odd blue marlin, wahoo and still the nice big albacor tuna.

July 31, 2014
Marlin and spearfish still very sparse here this year but there has been a bit more activity here this past week or so. Still plenty of tuna as well. Patrick Sherry from Ireland had a lovely big tuna on Cavalier and Craig Hunter from Greenock, Scotland had a 337kg blue marlin on Reel Time today.

June 17, 2014
Tuna, tuna and more tuna, that is what we are getting here in Gran Canaria. The blue marlin, white marlin and spearfish are very slow this year, hopefully it will all be worth waiting for !!

May 15, 2014
More than 50 albacor tuna caught between the sport fishing boats in our harbour on 13.5.14.

May 12, 2014
First blue marlin of the year for Cavalier caught and released today, approx 250 kg. Also had a triple hook-up with big eye tuna and caught a lovely one, 95 kg

May 6, 2014
Dorado sport fishing caught the first blue marlin of the season from Puerto Rico today. They tagged and released 2 blue marlin - congratulations Roberto. Meanwhile, Reel Time and Cavalier both had 6 albacor tuna.

April 22, 2014
Today was the turn of Cavalier to have a blue fin tuna. Well done guys.

April 20, 2014
Blue Marlin 3 caught and released a blue fin tuna, approx 270kg today. Their first big game fish on their new boat. Congratulations.

April 19, 2014
Another blue fin tuna, estimated weight 270 kg, caught and released by Reel Time yesterday and two blue fin tuna, 250 kg and 170 kg caught and released today.

April 16, 2014
There have been lots and lots of tuna caught/some also released this year - blue fin tuna, albacor and big eye. My good friends Jay Green and Julia Cilla enjoyed 3 fabulous trips with Reel Time and saw feeding frenzies with hundreds of blue fin tuna like they have never seen before. Each day was incredible with so many tuna, dolphins and whales to see. There have also been sightings of marlin so lets get ready.

February 10, 2014
Albacor and Big Eye Tuna here again !!

December 24, 2013
Wishing a very Merry Christmas and Happy and Healthy 2014 to all friends and clients. See you soon.

November 10, 2013
Still catching Blue Marlin, Yellowfin Tuna and Wahoo

November 5, 2013
It's November and we are fishing like it's summer. Reel Time has caught a blue marlin, Cavalier yellow fin tuna and dorado and the Blue Marlin 3 albacor tuna and they had a contact with a blue marlin.

October 4, 2013
Most boats bottom fishing now - but there are still big fish out there, a private fishing boat tagged and released the biggest blue marlin of the season yesterday and there are big tuna and plenty of wahoo around.

September 5, 2013
great marlin activity this week, Cavalier have raised many and caught and released as well. Blue Marlin have also had a good week and this afternoon caught and released 3 blue marlin and caught a dorado.

August 27, 2013
marlin, marlin, marlin today - lots of blue marlin for the sport fishing boats and private boats at last, white marlin as well.

August 24, 2013
Better late than never - this last few days lots of marlin being caught and released. One private boat had 3 blues and 1 white on the same fishing trip. We have the Pasito Blanco competition coming up next Friday/Saturday so hope they stay around.

August 11, 2013
Blue marlin, white marlin and lots of albacor tuna this last week.

August 4, 2013
The slow fishing of the past few weeks looks to be improving with catches and releases of blue and white marlin again and some nice sized dorados.

July 6, 2013
2 albacor tuna for Cavalier yesterday and a white marlin released, another white marlin released today as well.

June 27, 2013
After a good start, the past few weeks have been very quiet. Yesterday Cavalier released a blue marlin and the day before Blue Marlin 3 had a spearfish. Lots of dorado about today. Let's hope it is on the upturn again.

June 20, 2013
Blue Marlin 3 tagged and released a 280kg blue marlin yesterday. My friend Colin, who used to fish with me on Sailfish, was on board.

June 9, 2013
James from the Blue Marlin 3 desk enjoyed his first big game fishing trip with the boat today and proved to be the lucky mascot as they tagged and released their second blue marlin of the season.

May 30, 2013
The first blue marlin for boat Blue Marlin 3 was tagged and released today. They now have 1 blue marlin, 1 white marlin and 6 spearfish so far this season.

May 25, 2013
White marlin and Spearfish for Blue Marlin 3 today

May 12, 2013
Good times are here again - yellowfin tuna, albacor tuna, dorado, white marlin and blue marlin all caught this last week.

May 3, 2013
Good fishing this week - today an 80kg big eye tuna was caught on Blue Marlin 3 - well done.

May 2, 2013
Henrik and his 4 friends from Sweden chartered the Cavalier today, saw dolphins and whales and caught 2 yellow fin tuna, approx 8kg each and a bonito. Clients on the Blue Marlin 3 caught bonito but whilst they were being reeled in, mako sharks at the back of the boat were feeding on the catches !!

May 1, 2013
First blue marlin caught today by the sport fishing boat 'Reel Time' based in Puerto Rico. It was estimated at 250kg and was successfully tagged and released. Congratulations Roger, David and Juan.

Happy New Year, Prosperous 2013 to all my friends and clients. Cavalier has ended the year with yet another wahoo and Blue Marlin 3 has had an assortment of nice fish bottom fishing. On the Sagitarius Cat we have an extremely good first year with thousands of very very happy clients. In the past 6 months we have a phenomenal record for seeing the dolphins or whales or indeed both - there is only 8 days that we have not seen anything. I hope to see everybody again next year.

WOW - What a day for Michael and Mary Miller from England. On the last day of their 4 private charters on board the Cavalier it all happened. First of all they had a contact with a blue marlin, then they hooked up with one and Michael successfully brought it to the boat and the crew released the 260kg beauty. They had 2 more strikes, one which had Michael in the fighting chair again but the marlin won that battle and got away. So pleased for this lovely couple who have 158 years between them !!!

May 18, 2012

May 9, 2012

April 14, 2012
Yesterday the new Cavalier had it's first big fish, and what a big fish it was ! - a blue fin tuna, approx 260kg - what a beauty. This is just the first of many - watch this space !!

March 10, 2012
The calima that covered the Canary Islands for the past 2 days has now gone and left us with beautiful blue sky and sunshine. What better way to spend a day than out on a boat, either fishing, relaxing on a pleasure cruise, or being energetic and doing all the watersports whilst enjoying a cruise.

February 8, 2012
We have been having a good mixture of weather here in Gran Canaria to start off the New Year, with beautiful hot sunshine, or winds and clouds, or even in the mountains a sprinkling of snow. The new Cavalier is working well and last week caught a wopping 42kg Wahoo. For the pleasure cruises, we have a new boat starting to work from tomorrow, the Sagitarius Cat, as the name indicates it is a catamaran and we have places for 97 passengers. Of course we will still cater for the smaller groups as well. Whatever your requirements, for fishing, cruising, watersports, I am only an email away.

December 24, 2011
Merry Christmas and Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year to all. I hope that all my friends and supporters over the past 6 1/2 years come to visit me during 2012 here in Gran Canaria. Happy holidays to everybody xx

December 4, 2011
Thank you to Stig-Arne Svensson and Carl and Josefin from Sweden for fishing with us on the old Cavalier in the past couple of weeks and here's to many people fishing with us now on the new Cavalier which starts to work tomorrow. Congratulations, good luck and many, many marlin to Abraham and Hafid.

October 4, 2011
There are plenty of nice wahoo, amberjacks and red snappers being caught at the moment. Our very good friend Paul who fishes with us every summer and has caught many marlin has now gone back to England, without catching a single marlin this year, despite fishing for more than 200 hours in total !!! Better luck next year Paul.

August 28, 2011
What a fantastic night last night at Pasito Blanco, celebrating the end of the Pasito Blanco competition. Steve and Darren, fishing with Barrakuda Dos came second overall and it could so easily have been first - at about the same time and in about the same place as they had the first blue marlin on the first day, they hooked up with a second one yesterday but unfortunately just feet away from the boat it got away !!! Excellent work by our two fishermen and Manfred and Caesar on Barrakuda Dos. Private fishing boat Atlantis came first and Niklas II came third - well done Claus and crew.

August 25, 2011
Day one of the Pasito Blanco competition and Darren, with dad Steve and girlfriend were on the first day of their 3 day competition charter on Barrakuda Dos and tagged and released a blue marlin estimated at 250 kg - WELL DONE to them and Manfred and Caesar - we are so excited and can't wait for tomorrow.

August 11, 2011
Finally there were some fish today !!! After many days, indeed weeks, with virtually no fish to be caught, Cavalier caught 2 lovely wahoos and 2 yellow fin tunas, it was nice to see. Hopefully today and the rest of the season more.

July 30, 2011
Today was the last day of the annual three day Puerto Rico fishing competition. There was not much activity over the 3 days but the little that there was went to the private fishing boats. There were only 6 blue marlin caught and released, the winner being a private fishing boat called 'Marlin'. Let's hope that there will be more luck for the Pasito Blanco competition in August.

June 23, 2011
After many sightings, raising of the blue marlins and strikes, Cavalier struck lucky today and caught and released two blue marlins, one at 200kg and one at 150kg. Well done and congratulations Hafid and Abraham.

June 19, 2011
Four blue marlin were caught and released during the last week - 2 for Exploramar, 1 for Felusi and 1 for Blue Marlin 3. So now the excitement really begins ...... Dont't forget to make your reservations early for the fishing, also pleasure cruise, dolphin search and all watersports. See you soon !!

April 27, 2011
The first blue marlin of 2011 was caught yesterday by the fishing boat Dorado, weighing 190 kg. There have been many wahoo's over the past couple of weeks. The fishing boats will now be trolling in anticipation of many more of these beautiful marlin. Some of the boats will still offer bottom fishing, so something for everybody !!!!

March 11, 2011
We are having a real mixture with the weather this past couple of weeks, experiencing strong winds, rain, then blue skies and sunshine. For this weekend we have forecast again winds and rain plus snow in the mountains here in Gran Canaria!!! This hasn't affected the performance of the fishing boats with good fish being caught most days, especially yesterday with Cavalier and Exploramar catching Big Eye Tuna, Albacore Tuna and Blue Fin Tuna - fantastic.

December 24, 2010
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all. Let's hope that 2011 brings us health, happiness and lots of good fortune!!
I look forward to seeing all my good friends again next year.

November 1, 2010
Now we are mainly bottom fishing but still catching good size wahoo and dorado by trolling. So there is a large variety of fish to be had at the moment.
Last week we had two very wide age contrasts - we had Ethan Thomas, aged 8 from Manchester, England catch a 20kg wahoo and we had a husband and wife aged 79 and 77 from Germany do a tandem parascend.
So you are never too young or too old to do anything!!!!

August 23, 2010
Newspaper, La Provincia, yesterday ran the wonderful story of Nigel and his blue marlin - we have a celebrity fisherman !!

August 20, 2010
What a story we have to tell today - Nigel, after 3 years of patiently fishing time and time again, caught his first blue marlin and it was enormous - 440kg!! He has fished many many times with Niklas II, Cavalier and Felusi. On his first trip with us he saw Paul catch a blue marlin and vowed that he would one day have one, his dream finally came true today, and on his birthday. Thanks to Felusi - Enrique and Anna, and lots of encouragement from Paul. What a birthday present.

August 9, 2010
Paul finally caught his first marlin of this year today. He was fishing on the private boat of Trevor and they caught a white marlin, approx 45kg. Well done guys. This week has definitely seen more activity marlin wise, it has been a very slow, late start but hopefully we will have a few good weeks now.

July 11, 2010
After many sightings by all the boats of white marlin and blue marlin but them not being interested in the lures because there has been many many bait fish here, there finally seems to be more positive activity. Cavalier has today tagged and released a 280kg blue marlin.

June 28, 2010
A very big thank you to my wonderful friend Heinz for fishing with us for the past 6 days. This time him and his friend Martin fished with a total of 4 different boats - Dorado, Blue Marlin 3, Felusi and Exploramar. He thoroughly enjoyed each trip but unfortunately there were no blue marlin this time.

June 8, 2010
Cavalier tagged and released a 30kg white marlin today after sighting 17 during the trip and having strikes from 2. During the past few days they have seen and had contacts with many wahoo as well.

May 31, 2010
Yesterday afternoon I enjoyed an afternoon fishing with clients on the Felusi. Nigel with son Dylan and 4 friends had their 2nd trip trolling with Felusi, unfortunately no blue marlin, but Dylan had 2 nice bonitos, one escaping from the hook after all his hard work to bring it to the boat. They will try again tomorrow.

May 26, 2010
Fishing boat Felusi have their first blue marlin of the year - 250kg caught by a client from Czechoslovakia. Well done.

May 25, 2010
Today was the turn of the sport fishing boat Exploramar to catch their first blue marlin of the year. They tagged and released a blue marlin with an estimated weight of 180kg. Congratulations.

May 9, 2010
Yesterday it took more than 6 hours for a client on Blue Marlin 3 to catch, tag and release a blue marlin with a weight of 460kg. Well done !!

May 1, 2010
Even though we know the blue marlin are finally here, many clients are still requesting bottom fishing. The Cavalier have only had a couple of days trolling and have had a couple of strikes but we wait patiently for the first catch. There are dorado around which is a good sign, both Exploramar and Blue Marlin 3 have caught these. Felusi saw a white marlin yesterday and today Blue Marlin 3 had another strike with a blue marlin, but unfortuantely lost this one.

April 28, 2010
It was the turn of Blue Marlin 3 to catch a blue marlin today. It was caught by a lady from Norway and was released. The weight was 275 kg. Congratulations to her and to Tony and crew.

April 24, 2010
Two more blue marlins caught today by private fishing boats. Ohh the excitement !!

April 23, 2010
The sport fishing boat Dorado had the first blue marlin of the year here in Gran Canaria today. They hooked up with 5 and caught 2 of them, both weighing approx 150kg each. 1 was tagged and released and the other brought into the harbour. Congratulations and lets hope that they are the first of many to be caught this season. Now the other boats will also begin trolling in earnest, Cavalier will try their luck tomorrow.
You now have the option with your fishing trip for trolling or bottom fishing.
Last Sunday, 18th April, a group of spanish people here on the island as part of a tourism promotion for the Canary Islands enjoyed a fantastic day aboard the Timanfaya pirate ship, have a look in the photo gallery at some of the photos.

March 10, 2010
We are now well into the bottom fishing season, where most days see similar catches of similar fish. Today though, the Cavalier caught what is thought to be the first catch of this species here in Gran Canaria, a whopping 26.5kg Palometon on a lure.
Come and join us for fishing excitement, or relax on a pleasure cruise, enjoy watersports or view the dolphins, whales, turtles and possibly flying fish on a dolphin/whale search excursion.

December 30, 2009
Believe it or not a blue marlin was caught and released yesterday by a private fishing boat. So you never know what is in store on a fishing trip here in Gran Canaria. Why not book your's today.

December 20, 2009
We are almost at the end of another year and here's hoping next year will prove to be better with more people coming back to Gran Canaria.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all friends and clients who have supported me during the past years and I hope to enjoy your company again next year.

October 9, 2009
Well now all the boats are mostly bottom fishing. There is still trolling activity as well with several nice sized wahoos being caught and of course as soon as the big tuna are here, trolling will be resumed with avengance.
The Pasito Blanco competition has been and gone and there was very little activity compared to the rest of the season and the Puerto Rico competition. We had Paul, Heinz and Martin fishing on the Niklas II for the 3 days and Paul had the ultimate 'one that got away' - it was the first hook up of the day on day 1, it stripped almost 1000m of line from the reel in an instant and then snapped. Everything happened so fast there was nothing to do - never mind, maybe next year!!! Big thank-you's to Paul, as always, also Heinz, Martin and our friends Jackie and Tony who enjoyed 3 days fishing with Felusi and also a lovely day relaxing with Miguel aboard the Supercat.

August 9, 2009
We are still enjoying plenty of marlin activity here in Gran Canaria. Most days that the boats go out they have at least contacts with blue marlin and very often hook ups and catches. We have blue marlins, white marlins, spearfish, dorado, wahoo and bonito. The Cavalier were the grand champions of the annual Puerto Rico competition, we are now preparing for the Pasito Blanco competition. We have had Heinz from Germany here again, fishing with friends Martin and Werner on the Niklas II. During 6 days fishing Heinz caught a 200kg blue marlin, Werner a 220kg blue marlin and Martin caught and released a 25kg white marlin and a 140kg blue marlin. A couple of weeks prior on the Niklas II we fought with, but unfortuantely almost at the boat, lost, a blue marlin around 500kg.

July 13, 2009
Still plenty of blue marlin, white marlin and dorado here. On Saturday, the last day fishing with Niklas II, for Leo from Holland, he had his 5th marlin in a month. He has caught and released 2 blue marlin, caught a white marlin and caught 2 more blue marlin. Well done Leo, see you next year. We also have Paul back again from Rochdale and he was hooked up on the same trip with a blue marlin in excess of 300kg, unfortunately it spat the hook. Also today saw the arrival of the big eye tuna and yellow fin tuna. Cavalier had 3 big eye tuna, approx 50kg each.

June 28, 2009
What a fantastic week for fishing we have had. Every day many sightings of marlin, many contacts and many fights in the chair. Heinz from Germany was fishing for 6 days on Niklas II and on Wednesday had a very good contact with a large marlin, it took 800m of the line but unfortunately got away. On Thursday Martin, also from Germany, caught a 300 plus kg marlin and on Friday Leo, from Holland, caught and released a 50kg blue marlin and Cor, also from Holland caught a 300kg blue marlin. Everything was perfect on Friday and it was a dream day - the weather, the sea, the moon phase, and every sport fishing boat that left Puerto Rico had at least one contact with a marlin. Heinz reported to me that they saw many many birds, dolphins and also killer whales. The Cavalier have also caught and released both a blue and a white marlin this week.
A big thank you to Heinz and also Nigel and his son from Dover for fishing with us this week.

June 18, 2009
Still plenty of marlins about, both blue and white. Today Niklas II caught another white marlin, 40kg, congratulations to Leo and Monique from Holland with that. Also Cavalier caught and released both a blue and a white marlin.

June 9, 2009
Today three blue marlins were caught by the sport fishing boats out of Puerto Rico, including one tagged and released by Cavalier and one brought in by Felusi, approx. 200kg.

June 1, 2009
The marlin are well and truly here in Gran Canaria and the fishing is fantastic at the moment. The Cavalier have had a white marlin, a spearfish, a swordfish, some lovely dorados and a mako shark in the last few days. Other boats have also had dorados, white marlin and blue marlin.
What are you waiting for - get your flight booked and get out here now!!!!
The Pleasure Cruises are now offering the ever popular sunset cruises as well as the normal day cruises, email for more information.

May 23, 2009
Niklas II have had their first marlin of the season today - a white marlin of 40kg - well done.

May 22, 2009
There have been more blue marlins caught and a few contacts with white marlins, there has also been a 10kg dorado and a 130kg big eye tuna caught by a private boat. Congratulations to Bill from Essex who caught the 10kg dorado whilst fishing for 4 days with us and on his last day had a contact with a white marlin.
Big thanks to Bill and Kath, Roger and Jan. Also lovely to have had Chris, Sue, Mandy and Mick and Pauline with us again.

May 4, 2009
Well the first blue marlin of the season for 2009 has been caught today by the Dorado fishing boat. It was a good 245kg. Congratulations to them and hopefuly many more to come for us all this year. Trolling will now start in earnest for these beautiful creatures.
Now a tribute to a dear friend who sadly passed away, but he has left us with some lovely memories. Mick Turner from Preston, England, loved Gran Canaria and became a good friend over the past 4 years. He used to come on the Sailfish with me fishing or just for the 'ride'. We scattered his ashes at sea here, at his request, so now a part of him will always be with us here in Gran Canaria. Thank you to his lovely wife, Freda, his son Michael, daughter Donna and her fiance Tom and close friends Peter and Julie for sharing this with me. Michael and Peter then enjoyed a fishing trip dedicated to Mick.

March 21, 2009
Final preparations are underway to prepare the Niklas II for the start of the marlin fishing season. Let's hope that it is as good, or even better, than last year. The first blue marlin was caught in March last year and trolling will begin in earnest with the Niklas II within the next few days. Bottom fishing is still available as well. Many thanks to Ole Lundberg and his 6 companions from Norway for fishing with us on Cavalier.
Book before you leave home to be sure of your places for fishing, pleasure cruises, dolphin search, parascending and our new jet ski safari.

February 22, 2009
The weather the past couple of days has been fantastic with no wind, hot sun and lovely calm sea. The bottom fishing season continues as normal with plenty of the usual catches of stingrays, sharks, barracuda, amberjack, octopus, red snappers and sierra tuna. Clients aboard the Pleasure Cruises are also having much fun and enjoying the beautiful weather. The jet skis and parascending are also proving very popular.
We are also seeing the dolphins, whales, turtles and flying fish on most of our excursions on Magic Vision. Also, of course, if the dolphins are close to the coast we see them on the Pleasure Cruises.

December 28, 2008
Hope everybody had a wonderful Christmas and let's hope 2009 is good to us all. Good luck, health and happiness for the new year.

December 15, 2008
We are still doing a mixture of trolling and bottom fishing as there are nice tuna about. Bottom fishing is producing the normal species - shark, rays, octopus, baracuda, eels etc.
Clients aboard the Pleasure Cruise boats are still enjoying the lovely sunshine and enjoying the various watersports available. On the Supercat during the winter month we have 2 special days - Thursday we have an exclusive 5 hour trip with delightful food and live entertainment with Roy and on Sundays we have a 3 hour trip with entertainment and live music aimed at the German clients.
So whatever it is you are looking for, we have something to meet your wishes. Book early to avoid disappointment.

October 12, 2008
The marlin season has now finished but we continue to do a mixture of trolling and bottom fishing. There have been yellow fin tuna, albacor tuna and good sized bonitos caught in the past few weeks.
The Niklas II had 20 blue marlin and 5 white marlin this year - with Paul from Rochdale having 5 blue and 2 white. Cavalier had 29 blue marlin and 3 white marlin. A very impressive performance all round. Reserve your place for next year to experience this for yourself.
The bottom fishing catch includes, sharks, rays, baracuda, octopus and many more.
The pleasure cruise excursions are mainly daytime with just the occasional afternoon/evening one. Tell me your requirements and there will be something to suit everybody.

September 5, 2008
Last Thursday, Friday and Saturday saw the 19th annual Pasito Blanco competition and compared to the Puerto Rico competition last month, was very quiet. Niklas II was chartered by Heinz from Germany and Paul from England and on the Friday we had a 20kg white marlin, caught by Paul. There was a total of 14 blue marlin caught and released and 2 white marlin caught and released by all the boats that participated from Gran Canaria and the other Canary Islands. This week we have only caught bonitos, but hopefully the marlin are still here. We try every day.
Heinz has now returned to Germany a very happy man after catching his blue marlin last week, thank you very much Heinz and see you next year.

August 26, 2008
Today was the day Niklas II caught their 20th blue marlin this season and Heinz from Germany caught his 118th at the age of 72 years. Heinz has been fishing here in Gran Canaria for more than 30 years and has fished all around the world for his marlin.
He has had to wait 2 years for this latest marlin and it did not come easy - It was a crazy one that took 2 hours and 45 minutes to bring to the boat - the double line was taken 45 times before he tired himself out but Heinz did not even break into a sweat!!! Congratulations Heinz.

August 23, 2008
Yesterday we had a private charter booked by Ben who lives here in Gran Canaria and his friends on holiday from Wales. Unfortunately, due to bereavement in the terrible airport accident in Madrid, Niklas II was unable to sail. The Dorado saved the day and the boys went with them - 3 marlin were raised and then Michael caught, tagged and released a 120kg blue marlin.
Today on Niklas II Anthony Turner caught a 200kg blue marlin - the 19th this season for them.

August 20, 2008
After a relatively quiet few days, today we had another blue marlin, 250kg. On 16.8.08 we had a 10 minute fight with a blue marlin but unfortunately he slipped the hook, 18.8.08 we had a contact but this one didn't take the lure. We are still also catching bonito. There have also been many sightings of whales, including a blue whale, approximately 60 foot long. Dolphins are frequently seen, also flying fish and turtles.

August 9, 2008
Today Paul had 2 blue marlins on Niklas II. One 260kg and the other a whopping 425kg. That is 17 blue marlins now, 5 caught by Paul. Well done to Paul and the fantastic crew on Niklas II.

August 5, 2008
Yesterday we had 4 good contacts with blue marlin and Tom Goords from Holland was lucky enough to bring his into the boat. It was estimated to be 140kg. His friend, Martijn, caught a 10kg tuna. Today we had a blue marlin in excess of 300kg on the line for 10 minutes, but he managed to escape the hook. We also had a contact with a spearfish. We have now secured 2 people for part charter for the Pasito Blanco competition so please another 2 people!!!!

July 31, 2008
Yesterday saw blue marlin no. 14 and white marlin no. 3 for Niklas II. Andy from Howick, Scottish borders, had a blue marlin, approx 200kg and Paul had his 4th marlin of this year, but this time a white one, approx 50kg.
Due to cancellation because of illness, the Pasito Blanco competition on 28-30 August this year, is now available on Niklas II, either as a full charter for the 3 days or part charter. The clients had also booked accommodation for the week so if you are interested, you only need your flights!!! Dont delay - enquire for more details.
Read below about the excitement in the Puerto Rico competition and then try your luck with us.
We are also available for the Fuerteventura competition which is 11-14 September. This would need to be a full or part charter for a week to allow for travelling to the island.

July 27, 2008
The 3 day competition was a resounding success this year with many many contacts with blue marlins and also many catches. On Day 1 Niklas II had 3 contacts, but unfortunately the lure was not taken on any of them. We saw 3 whales but not 1 dolphin during the 7 hours of fishing. Today, according to the rules, we could only catch blue marlin and any caught had to be released. 11 blue marlins were caught and released today. Day 2 was very quiet for us and today and tomorrow we could fish for blue and white marlin, spearfish, tuna, dorado and wahoo. Only 4 blue marlins were caught and released in total today. Day 3 was the best day for us - we had 4 blue marlins at the boat and successfully caught and released a blue marlin, on 50lb line, estimated at 100kg. Congratulations to Darren Roberts for that. Today there was a total of 12 blue marlins caught - 11 released and one brought in and 1 white marlin released. Two private fishing boats had caught and released 3 blue marlins over the 3 days so they were the winners of the competition. We then enjoyed a presentation dinner in the evening.
A very big thank you to Stephen, Lyn and Darren Roberts and Clare for chartering the boat for the 3 days. Also thanks to Mick, Pauline and family for being with us on Sagitarius and doing the parascending.

July 23, 2008
18.7.08 saw marlin no. 2 for Paul this month, approx 180kg. 21.7.08, Niklas II had their 12th blue marlin this season, this one was a joint effort between Holger, Germany and Paul and weighed in at 120kg. There was another contact at the same time as this one this morning and later in the afternoon there was another contact. Yesterday we had bonitos and today some nice size bonitos. Tomorrow sees the start of the annual 3 day Puerto Rico competition. We have Stephen Roberts from England fishing the 3 days with us on Niklas II, so fingers crossed.

July 17, 2008
Still plenty of activity fish wise in the Atlantic Ocean here, 9 July we had 2 contacts with blue marlin and saw a blue marlin jump behind the boat, 10 July, again more contacts but no fish caught. 15 July Paul had 2 contacts with blue marlin but for the past week we have had to be happy with catching bonito, most of which are a very generous size, average 10kg.
The Pleasure Cruise Boats are doing 2 trips most days and spaces are filling up fast. You can either simply relax or be energetic and do the watersports.
Sunday is the annual Carmen fiesta where all the boats are decorated and sail from Arguineguin harbour to Puerto Mogan, with celebrations all the way, our friends - Mick and Pauline - have chartered the Sagitarius for this event so we are looking forward to a fantastic day out. Niklas II will also be in the procession.
What are you waiting for - book your holiday and excursions now!!

July 8, 2008
Yesterday saw Paul from Rochdale catch his first blue marlin of this year on only his second fishing trip with Niklas II. This was the second of the day - the first was for Dutch fisherman Kees Jansen, his marlin was approx 250kg and Paul's was 150kg. We could have had another 3 but they chose to just swim around the boat and not take the lures. Today we had another 3 contacts, 2 snapping the bands but not taking the lures and one taking the lure but not well enough and was gone. For the next 3 days we are participating in a competition from Mogan so tight lines Niklas II.

July 5, 2008
Today saw blue marlin no. 8 for Niklas II. It was the turn of Leo from Holland, Leo has been waiting 25 years for his dream to come true and today was the last day of a month here in Gran Canaria, fishing almost every day. At 11 am his line went and his 120kg blue marlin took his lure. Congratulations Leo and we look forward to seeing you next year. We also had a contact with a white marlin and good sized dorado today. On 30.6.08 we had several tuna, all in excess of 100kg, swimming around the boat, unfortunately, they were not hungry. Today was the first day fishing for Paul from Rochdale - let's see if he can beat his record of 3 blue marlin last year.

June 30, 2008
What incredible fishing we are having here in Gran Canaria this year. Heinz, fishing aboard Niklas II, had a contact with a blue marlin on 24.6.08 and then on the 28.6.08, had a 3 hour battle with a huge blue marlin. We also had Patrick and Gerard from England on the boat and the marlin took the lure on Patrick's rod - him and his son fought for 1 hour and then Heinz took over, the marlin had taken 850m line but unfortunately, we lost it. Thank you Heinz and we will look forward to you trying again with us next year.
As well as the marlin, there are still an abundance of bonito here, dorado and now we have big eye tuna, approximately 50kg in weight also.
The Cavalier released a blue marlin on 28.6.08.
The Pleasure Cruise boats are still sailing most days, offering you the chance to relax and sunbathe in temperatures averaging 30 degrees everyday, then to cool off with a nice swim and participate in water sports if you like.
Now, both the fishing boats and pleasure boats are also offering sunset trips.
So, with something to suit everybody's needs and desires, please book your trip on line now, to avoid disappointment.

June 24, 2008
Fishing is still excellent this year for trolling. White marlin, blue marlin, dorado, wahoo, tuna. Well done to Michael Miller who, after 11 days fishing and one contact with a blue marlin, finally caught one on his last day. I now have Heinz from Germany fishing with us on Niklas II, with his 35 years experience of fishing the ocean here in Gran Canaria, so good luck to him.

May 22, 2008
Today saw the 4th blue marlin in a week for Niklas II. The fisherman today was Steve from Bristol who had a double celebration as today was also his silver wedding anniversary - this is certainly one he won't forget!!! Congratulations Steve and Cherry.
Cavalier had another blue marlin on 19.5.08. May has to be a record month for marlin for many years.

May 19, 2008
Niklas II caught a white marlin today - 30kg, excellent. Also a dorado, 10kg.
All the pleasure cruise boats enjoyed a wonderful, relaxing day on the Atlantic ocean with perfect conditions and beautiful blue skies and sunshine.

May 18, 2008
Another blue marlin for Niklas II today - the third in 5 days - and this one a whopping 380kg.
Cavalier had their first blue marlin of the season yesterday, now they have had a blue and white marlin this season.
Now is the time to book your holiday in Gran Canaria and experience the ultimate in big game fishing - there are certainly plenty of big fish about at the moment.

May 17, 2008
Sadly, as my close friends and clients already know, no more Sailfish for me.
However, I am delighted to report that I am extremely happy and proud to be working with and promoting Niklas II.
The website is currently being redesigned, so watch this space!!!!
Make your reservations with me on-line for fishing or relaxing on one of three pleasure cruises I have on offer. You won't be disappointed.
Thank you to everybody for your past support and I hope I can rely on you for the same in the future.

May 16, 2008
Congratulations to Niklas II who are fishing fantastic. On Wednesday 14 May they caught and released a 180kg blue marlin and also had a wahoo in excess of 20kg. Today, Friday 16 May, they have caught a 220kg blue marlin. Well done guys.
There are still many white and blue marlin being sighted, also dorado and tuna.

May 5, 2008
Friday 2 May Niklas II had a 300kg blue marlin 50m from the boat but it was not hungry for the lure. Today, we had a spearfish on, but unfortunately we lost it. There are still many bonito, blue marlin, white marlin, spearfish, dorado here and also big eye tuna.
A very big thank you to Mary, Geoff and Josh for 3 lovely days with me - 1 on Niklas II and 2 on Sagitarius.

April 27, 2008
There was a contact with a blue marlin aboard the fishing boat Niklas II on 24.4.08 - also there have been 2 spearfish caught on other sport fishing boats. There are many bonito here at the moment so mainly trolling is being done. This is an early start to the season for marlin and spearfish - the first marlin this year being caught in March. A very big thank you to Michael Miller for fishing for 5 days with me.

April 6, 2008
We are fishing well at the moment - catching tuna, barracuda, sama, red snappers, sting rays in the main. We are starting off trolling as the first blue marlin was caught in March - very early this year - and there have been some tuna, but if nothing is happening after an hour or so then we drop anchor and fish from the bottom. Of course if you specifically want trolling only then you can charter the boat and just do that.

March 5, 2008
Sailfish is working well now. All the necessary maintenance and painting has been done. There have been sightings of tuna and bonito so we start each trip trolling "just in case" but if there is nothing then we drop anchor and bottom fish. We have been catching nice size amberjacks, cabrilla, sting rays, octopus etc. Please make your reservations as early as you can to avoid disappointment. We are looking forward to having all our friends with us again this year, also to making many new ones.

January 16, 2008
Sailfish is now out of the water for it's annual maintenance work - she will be back in a week or so looking beautiful again. Please make your reservations in advance, also remember the Puerto Rico competition in July.
From a business and personal point, 2008 has started with a bang and hopefully things are just going to get better and better. We look forward to seeing our friends again this year and meeting new people as well.

December 22, 2007
Seasons Greetings to all our clients, friends and visitors to the website.
We wish each and every one of you a very merry christmas and a very happy and prosperous 2008.

November 29, 2007
Bottom fishing is very varied at the moment - we are catching a good selection of fish, including sharks, sting rays, barracuda, kingfish, eels, octopus, sierra tuna, cabrilla, and many other small fish.
Thank-you's go to Steve Roberts with Duncan and Aaron for his 3 day charter, Geoff and Mary from Cornwall, Chris and Susie, Stig-Arne Svensson from Sweden and Pam and Trevor from Yorkshire, also Paul for being with us again.
SPECIAL CHRISTMAS OFFER - BOOK ON LINE DURING DECEMBER AND RECEIVE A 10 PERCENT DISCOUNT.

October 20, 2007
Now, we are mainly bottom fishing. We still troll on the way out just in case there are any tuna or wahoo out there - we have had a small dorado and a baracuda with trolling over the past week. Bottom fishing is producing a lot of good fish - sharks, baracuda, rays, kingfish, amberjacks, sama, sierra tuna, octopus, eels, snappers, cabrilla etc. All of which you can see from the latest photos in the gallery. Thanks to John Bergfeldt from Sweden for chartering us again, Fred and family from Holland - you were excellent - what a shame the giant sting ray cut the line with his tail right at the back of the boat, but what a sight, more than 150kg. Also thank you to Colin and Trisha and indeed everybody who has been with us.

September 19, 2007
Our last contact with a blue marlin was on 9 September, we also saw many dorado that day and for a couple of days after, but they had bait fish and were not interested in our lures. Since then there has been little activity trolling. We are now, therefore, doing a mixture of trolling and bottom fishing and will assess things daily. Monday we had turtles, which of course were released, octopus and a 5kg Kingfish, also a bonito from trolling.
Special mentions this time to Kristoff Oyen from Mallorca,Andy with his dad Ray, brother Martin and friend Andy from Worthing, Bill and Kathy from Essex, Nicholas, Quentin, Andy and Liza from Exeter and Tony and Jackie from Brighton - we shared some nice times with you, thank you very much.

September 8, 2007
A beautiful day today, the sea was perfect, and we had 3 very nice dorados. We saw two marlin jump, many dolphins putting on a good display, two turtles, rescued one baby turtle that had a plastic sack wrapped around it's neck, caught 3 dorados - 1 at 12kg and 2 at 10kg each and lost one at approx 14kg right at the back of the boat.
There are some nice size dorados and bonitos here at last.

September 3, 2007
Today saw another blue marlin for Sailfish. It was another joint effort from Paul and Trevor and it took 45 minutes to get it to the back of the boat. The estimated weight of this one is 320kg. This was an incredible experience for all on board today, the marlin leapt at least 20 times, what an awesome sight.
Yesterday we had 4 contacts within 10 minutes of each other - there were 2 blue marlin at the back of the boat and 2 contacts were within 1 minute of each other.
What a start to September for us.

August 29, 2007
Wednesday must be the lucky day for Sailfish, last week I reported a strike and today we landed a blue marlin, approx 150kg. The lucky person was Lee Byrne (now known as Lee Marlin!!), 16 years old, from Dublin, Ireland. He was amazing and brought the marlin to the boat in 35 mins. His biggest fish prior to today was a 5kg pollock!!
Competition news - 35 boats participated in this competition and a total of 8 blue marlin and 1 spearfish were caught. Again no tuna, dorado or wahoo. We had a contact at 1015 on day one, but that was all the luck for Sailfish. Never mind, at least we participated.
We say farewell to Denise after 7 weeks, fishing with Sailfish almost every day. She was lucky and caught a 291kg blue marlin whilst fishing on private boat, Niklas II.
Remember, it is possible to catch a blue marlin on our 3 hour family trip, as we have proved today. If you are planning your holiday, please make your fishing trip reservation early to avoid disappointment.

August 22, 2007
Today we had a a good strike with a blue marlin, estimated at 350-400 kg. It took the lure nearest to the boat and then took the line right away. Unfortunately, it slipped the hook. What a catch that would have been. Tomorrow is the first day of the Pasito Blanco competition so let's hope we have some good luck and good news to report.

August 17, 2007
Yesterday saw another very exciting day for Sailfish. First we had a contact with a blue marlin in the morning then all was quiet for a while then a strike on the same rod - Paul's again. He fought with this blue marlin for 45 minutes, played it to the back of the boat, Pepe took the leader ready to release the fish, when it decided to release itself! It was not tired enough and wanted to take the line and go off again, but instead the line snapped and off it went with the lure. As Pepe had taken hold of the leader line this is classed as a catch so 2 blue marlins for Paul and Sailfish in 5 days. When it had taken the lure initially it bent the outrigger right down so this had to be straightened and then the lines put out again, then we had a white marlin around the boat but this was not hungry so no more takes.

August 13, 2007
Yesterday we had our first blue marlin of the season. It was a joint effort from Paul and Trevor and it took 50 minutes to get it to the back of the boat. It weighed 220 kg and the pictures will be in the photo gallery later. Wow, well done Paul and Trevor and also Pepe and Carmelo.

August 4, 2007
Fishing is very slow at the moment - hopefully August will see a big improvement and we will have some bonito here and also the bigger fish. There are plenty of dolphins being seen, also turtles and hammerhead sharks.
Please be assured that Puerto Rico has not been affected by the terrible fire that we have had here. It is now under control and although it will take many years for the middle of the island to recover, it is business as usual for us. We have heard that the press and news bulletins are suggesting that people select different holiday destinations to Gran Canaria - please do not do this, and visit us as you have planned.

July 24, 2007
The annual 3 day Puerto Rico competition finished on Saturday and it was not to be for Sailfish. There were only 7 blue marlin caught in the entire competition - 28 boats participated and we all fished for 21 hours over the 3 days - there were no white marlin, spear fish, dorado, wahoo or tuna at all for those days!! 6 of the marlin caught went to private fishing boats and only 1 to a sport fishing boat, White Marlin. We are so ready for our first marlin of the season and whoever is on board with us when we get it is guaranteed a fiesta!! We still have the Pasito Blanco competition in August to look forward to as well. Thanks in this news bulletin go to Karen and Paul, who chartered us for the competition, also Paul from Rochdale who fished with them. Also Stig-Arne and Christian Svensson who spent 5 days with us earlier in the month, also the Cook and Pyke families and friends from Dublin who chartered us to celebrate Gerard's 18th birthday and also the group we had from Gran Canaria.
We are still seeing the marlin out there and have had 2 more contacts since the last report, we also had two 5kg bonito earlier in the month.

June 27, 2007
There is a lot of activity out there with blue marlins - we are still waiting for our first one of the season. We have seen many and had a couple near the boat. On Saturday we had our first contact. It was the last hour of the last day for Heinz, who had been fishing with us all week, it took the lure on his rod and then cut the line with his bill, disappearing with the lure! The same day Heinz caught a 6kg dorado and we rescued a turtle that was being strangled by line - we released him safely. Yesterday we had two more nice dorado. A big thank you to Heinz from Germany, also Kay (Danish Dynamite) who also fished with us every day for a week.

June 17, 2007
The second half of May and the beginning of June have been quiet, both from a client point of view and also fishing wise. We are trolling every day looking for the blue marlin, there are many dolphins, pilot whales, turtles and flying fish out there. Wednesday is still family day where we do a mixture of trolling and bottom fishing. Today we say a brief farewell to Denise (see you again in 4 weeks!!) after her fortnight here, also her daughter Ann and partner Robbie and greetings to Heinz as he starts his week of fishing with us.
Last week we had a mola mola (moon fish/sun fish) weighing approx 100kg which we photographed and then released. Also that day we had a marlin at the side and back of the boat but it didnt want to take the lure.
Thank you to Javier, Antonio and Anna from Pamplona for chartering Sailfish twice in June. It was also very nice to have Tom and his family from Holland with us again.

May 17, 2007
There have been a further two blue marlin's caught by the private fishing boat, Black Marlin. Sailfish had two nice dorados on 28.4.07 and we have been catching tuna and bonito. We have rescued three turtles over the past few weeks, we come across them tangled up in rope, line, netting, bags and many other things. Where possible we free them ourselves and then release them. However we had to bring one in on the boat for collection by the Turtle Rescue Centre as it had a hook down it's throat. They will keep it there for a couple of months and then release it back. We are now mainly trolling but the three hour trips on Wednesdays are trolling and bottom fishing combined. A very big thank you to Karen and Paul from Manchester who fished with us almost every day for two weeks and for the lovely gifts you gave us - we look forward very much to having you fish with us in the Puerto Rico competition in July.

April 22, 2007
We have been catching many nice tuna over the past few weeks - sierra tuna, skipjack tuna, bonito and albacor tuna. The first blue marlin of the season was caught yesterday by a private fishing boat, Black Marlin, weighing 285kg.We are looking forward to our first one this year!! There are many people that I would like to personally thank for fishing with Sailfish since the last news update - we have had Paul Fryer with us again, Chris and Tony, Alan Roffey, Paw Zimmermann, our friend Dave who has now left for Alicante - good luck! Thanks to Michael Adams and his partner for chartering us on 14.3.07, Mats Jacobson, his family and associates from Sweden who chartered us on 3.4.07. Gareth and Adrian from Ireland who chartered us for 2 days on 4/5.4.07, the Bouss and Michaux families from Belgium who chartered us on 10.4.07, the Swedish group who were with us on 12.4.07 and another Swedish group on 20.4.07 who caught 2 nice tuna that they later ate in Olas Locas. Finally the 4 fantastic families with their lovely children from America living in Germany who were on vacation before the men left for service in Afghanistan.

March 19, 2007
We are still doing a mixture of trolling and bottom fishing with many sierra tuna, barracuda, red snappers, bonito, rays being caught. As usual we have met many nice people and also had our regular clients with us. Thanks to Rene Nielsen and Rene Pedersen from Denmark who chartered our boat on 10.2.07,also to Javier and family from Spain who had two trips with us, to Anders and his family from Sweden who joined us for a sunset trip to celebrate his birthday, also Mick and Pauline from England - we had a lovely day on 6.3.07 when we saw dolphins, whales, a turtle and also caught some nice fish, and of course Paul from England and Denise from England. As well as enjoying our day fishing, we have been enjoying eating our catch in Olas Locas, our local restaurant, where they are only too happy to cook our freshly caught fish for us to eat with our clients.
Our Wednesday special 3 hour family trips are still proving to be very popular so please make your reservation in advance to be sure of a place.

February 5, 2007
We are doing a mixture of trolling and bottom fishing at the moment. We have caught dorado, sierra tuna and nice size bonito trolling whilst bottom fishing is producing rays, red snappers, eels, octopus, lizard fish, spider fish etc.
We look forward to having our regular clients with us again this year and hope to meet many new friends as well.

November 4, 2006
The weather has been very mixed over the past week, with a few overcast days, heavy rain, strong winds plus the normal sunshine! The fishing is also mixed at the moment - some days little fish is caught and others are good. We are catching blue shark, hammerhead shark, angel shark and tope, different species of rays, eels, snappers, plus over the past couple of weeks we have had 3 turtles brought onto the boat. All the turtles, sharks and rays have been released. There are still bonito, dorado and wahoo in the waters when we are trolling on the way out.
Warm thanks to Henric and his large family from Sweden, who chartered Sailfish on 27.10.06 - the weather and fishing were not too good but your company was, and hopefully we made the best of the day for you - we saw many dolphins, you enjoyed an impromptu swim and even a jet ski ride! Thanks also to the Pringuet family from Belgium who chartered the boat on 3.11.06, catching and releasing a small hammerhead shark.

October 20, 2006
Today has seen another good day's fishing on Sailfish. After two unsettled days the sea was calm and the weather beautiful. We had amongst our guests today our friend Colin, celebrating his birthday, Brendan and Rachel revisiting us and 3 new clients - Larry and his sons Lee and Shane. We caught and released a tope and a blue shark and also 2 10kg bonito.
We are doing a mixture of trolling and bottom fishing at the moment - there are still marlin out there, also dorado, wahoo and tuna. The bottom fishing is producing many rays, eels, small shark and snappers.
We look forward to having regular and new clients on board with us.

September 11, 2006
On 2.9.06 we had a contact with a blue marlin, the following day, 3.9.06, we had a strike with a blue marlin. I myself was on the boat and to witness the blue marlin jumping and dancing was incredible. Unfortunately it cut the line with its tail or fin. The following day, 4.9.06 we were fortunate to hook up with another blue marlin. The lucky man whose rod it was on, Bryan McKinny from Glasgow, had been fishing with us all week and this was his last day and what an experience we all shared. It took 1 hour and 50 minutes before we released an estimated 380kg blue marlin, something I will certainly never forget. Thanks to Bryan and Theresa for an excellent week.
Please have a good look through our new website and contact me for any further information you require or to make a booking.

August 27, 2006
Sailfish is fishing very well at the moment. On Thursday 24.8.06 we had a 25kg wahoo, on Friday 25.8.06 we released a 180kg blue marlin and today, 27.8.06 we had 2 dorado each weighing 14kg. We are also catching smaller dorado and many bonito. The Wednesday family fishing days are also fishing well with bonito, rays, octopus, snapper, lizard fish and many more being caught.

August 3, 2006
After many contacts but no success,we have finally tagged and released our first blue marlin of the season on 1.8.06. The weight was 180kg-200kg. The following day Marion from Lincoln caught the new Sailfish record Ray with a 140kg Eagle Ray - so Marcus your record has been broken - you need to come back and catch a bigger one!!!
The fishing is very good at the moment with many marlin, tuna, dorado and bonito.
We are still available for charter for the Pasito Blanco competition in August, so if you are interested, please contact me for further details.

I am pleased to report that we are busy at the moment, so it is advisable to make your reservation in advance over the internet to avoid disappointment. Also if you have taken any photos you wish us to display please send them to us.

June 10, 2006
Well, we finally came back into the water at 2030 hours on 6.6.06 after 29 long hard days. The engines were lifted out of the boat, stripped down, all new parts bought and then they were rebuilt. We have also strengthened the boat, put new wood in, fibreglassed, painted, had new doors fitted and made many cosmetic changes. She now looks more professional and runs like a dream. We have had two fishing excursions now and on both seen a marlin, the first one made contact but the second was just seen at the back of the boat. There are many many dolphins, whales, turtles and birds out there so hopefully tomorrow and thereafter we will be lucky. Later in the week photographs showing the work being done on the boat and then the finished result will be in the photo gallery.
We have plaaces available to charter the boat for the Puerto Rico competition in July and the Pasito Blanco competition in August. Please email for further info if you are interested. Also, please remember that we do our family 3 hour trips on a Wednesday and do full 6 hour trips every other morning and 4 or 5 hour trips in the afternoons. When you have booked your holiday, why not book your fishing trip in advance over the internet as well. We look forward to seeing you.
Michelle

May 14, 2006
We have been doing a mixture of bottom fishing and trolling. There have been 3 marlin caught already with the season starting early. We have still been catching good size rays, tope and baracuda. Trolling we have had some nice bonito and on 5.5.06 our good friend and frequent visitor to Sailfish, Heinz from Germany, caught an 18kg Wahoo. Please look in the photo gallery. We are now undertaking our annual maintenance programme - we are refurbishing the engines and doing many different tasks in order to make the boat look and perform better than before and therefore offer you an even better service. Places are available from Saturday 27.5.06.

April 10, 2006
The fishing is nearly as good as the weather here at the moment with many fish being caught including rays, tope, angel shark, barracuda, red snapper, mackerel. Our friend Markus from Sweden caught a 120kg ray on 29.3.06. All pictures can be viewed in our photo gallery. Please send us any pictures you have taken and then these can also be included on our website. We have our normal daily trips 0900 to 1500 hours every day except Wednesday when we now offer a shorter 3 hour trip. This is proving to be very popular so please reserve your place early to avoid disappointment. We offer 0900 to 1200, 1230 to 1530 and 1600 to 1900 hours. We also do afternoon/sunset trips as well. The marlin season will be with us starting next month, so again, please make your booking as soon as you can.

February 23, 2006
Senor Buliger and his son from Rumania enjoyed 2 good days fishing with us earlier this month and caught, amongst other fish, a 70kg ray, a 9kg mori eel and several atlantic tuna. Senor Kirkpatrick and his son, Michael from England also enjoyed 2 days fishing with us, with Michael catching a 25kg ray. All their pictures can be viewed in our photo gallery. We have still been mainly bottom fishing and catching some good fish including angel sharks, barracuda, rays, eels and snappers. We have also had many sierra tuna fishing with live bait. We have had a few days now with large albacore and big eye tuna being caught. Please be assured that any turtles we catch are cleaned, have their teeth checked and are then released back into the sea. We will now be doing a mixture of bottom fishing and trolling. Should you wish to make a reservation and would prefer to do one particular type of fishing please specify at the time of booking. We are more than happy to accommodate private charters to your exact specification. Please remember, if you have been on Sailfish and have any good photographs of the trip, to send them to me, for putting in our photo gallery on the web.

January 19, 2006

Many fish are being caught at the moment - eagle rays, sting rays, mori eels, conger eels, red snapper, small sharks, octopus. A manta ray swam past the boat today. A 72kg eagle ray was caught on 6.11.05 by Mr Schulz - please pay a visit to our photo gallery to see pictures. We have had a very bad storm here with strong winds and there has been much damage. Luckily Sailfish is Ok.

The trolling season has now ended and bottom fishing has begun. At the moment we are still able to put the lines out as we leave the harbour as there are still some tuna, bonito, wahoo out there. The bottom fishing is good with sharks, tope, eels and rays being caught on a regular basis. Please check our photo gallery as we have a picture of the 4 albacor tuna, total weight 93kg, caught at the end of September. We also have some nice photos sent to us by Oliver Meiske and his son from Germany - they were clients on Sailfish last week - including a turtle that was brought on board to have the algae cleaned from his shell and some dentistry work done before he was released back into the water. If any of our clients have any photos taken during one of our trips, please forward them to us and we will put them in the gallery.
